Stay on the lakes
- Saturday morning: parkrun at Lake Hiawatha. Strollers and kids are normal on that loop. Free. Then walk over and watch the Floridian runners come back along the trail.
- Saturday or Sunday at Lakeridge: Corks & Forks is free to get in, the cornhole is free, and there’s shade and grass for the kids while the band plays. Bring chairs or a blanket.
- Southern Hill Farms Fall Festival: corn maze, petting zoo, bounce houses, and apple cider donuts. Tickets are online only, and under-3s are free.
- Showcase of Citrus: pumpkins, monster trucks, gem mining, and animals, 9 to 7 every day. The haunted night rides are for 12 and up.
- Bikes, ages 6 and up: Groveland’s Saturday-morning birdwatching ride on the Van Fleet Trail, $10 a person.
- Sunday: Farmers Market on Montrose, then the South Lake Trail.
- Thinking about a dog? Lake County Animal Shelter adoption fees are 50% off through October 31. Spay/neuter, first shots, and a microchip are included. See adoptable pets.
- Anytime: Lake Louisa State Park, 8 a.m. to sundown, $5 a car.
