Family in Clermont

Three places that still work when everyone is tired of the car. Original notes, official links for hours and fees.

Lake Minneola waterfront

Waterfront Park, 330 3rd Street, Clermont

This is the Saturday-morning stretch of Clermont: paved trail, a public beach on Lake Minneola, picnic tables, and enough shade to last a juice box. You can park once and let kids burn an hour on the grass while someone else walks to the Boathouse end and back. On a first-Saturday evening the downtown food trucks are a short walk up the hill; the rest of the year it is just the lake, which is the point.

South Lake Trail

Paved multi-use trail through Clermont and Minneola

The trail is how a lot of us actually move around the lake — strollers, bikes, and after-dinner walks under the streetlights on the Minneola side. Start at Waterfront Park or Lake Hiawatha Preserve if you want the water views without a planning meeting. Mileage figures online disagree because the county keeps extending pavement west; treat any number as “long enough” and turn around when the snacks run out. Official maps and closures live with Lake County Parks and Trails.

Lake Louisa State Park

7305 U.S. Highway 27, Clermont

Fifteen minutes south on 27 and the strip malls drop away. Louisa is the big green reset: swimming, a picnic, a short hike, or a cabin night when you cannot face I-4. The park is open 8 a.m. until sundown every day. Vehicle entry is published as $5 for two to eight people, $4 for a single-occupant car, and $2 for walk-ins or extra passengers — confirm on the state parks fee page before you go, because those numbers can change.

This Labor Day weekend

  • Parkrun at 7:30, then coffee, then let the rest of Saturday stay unscheduled until Food Fest.
  • Sunday market downtown, then a lake loop if the afternoon storm holds off.
  • If Cooper Memorial is closed this weekend, pack the library bag for Tuesday and use Louisa or the trail instead.

Weekend guide has the sourced times. We are not adding a city fireworks night because the city did not list one.
